the way I do mine is I part my hair in 4 sections so I can get my scalp I hold my hair at the top and start from the bottom the best come to get if your trying to get close to the root is the comb with the curved tip, prices range it depends on where you get it from they will all the work the same I got mine from a wigs-n-braids hair shop for 12.99. Another way to prevent from burning your scalp is press your hair using Kemi-Oil not hair grease.You can go to Sallys beauty supply but they are a bit more expensive.

usually $15-30 and you can get them at Sallys it's a hair product store w/ lods of stuff for your hair it's great

ummm hot combs you can get at a beauty supplies stores...........i've never used one but my friend said you put it on the stove so it'll get really hot you have to b careful with those
