Does a haircut matter in a job interview?

I'm an 18 year old male with light brown hair. My hair is currently a medium length (it's not short, nor long like a girls hair). It goes down to about the bottom of my ears and flails up around the edges all the way around. I have two job interviews coming up in a week for a retail sales associate and a key holder's position. These will be my first jobs interviews and I was thinking of ways to possibly have a better chance of getting the job. Then, it struck me. Should I get my hair cut for the interview or leave it as it is and cut it if they request it?

It shouldn't matter, but for some people it does. You cannot go wrong by cutting it, so I would go that route.

If your hair is not professional looking then it will probably hurt your job prospects.

Most people, especially the older generations, prefer to see young men with short hair and tidy appearances. Somehow, they think of long hair as unkempt. It might make a good impression to them if you have a short and tidy hairstyle.

Unfortunately your appearance is very important on most any job interview, it's really your first impression, although it may not reflect who you really are.

if you think it looks messy in any way, a bit of a trim might be in order - but that doesn't mean you need to cut it like you have just joined the military.

Retail management like for their employees to be neat and this means a hair cut. It would make a better impression on your interviewer if you come to the interview in pressed shirt, slacks, tie, nice shoes, and a haircut or at least a trim to make it neat. if you have facial hair, make sure it is trimmed. Have your teeth clean, and smile and be friendly. You will have the appearance of management material in the making.

It depends a great deal on the job. I'm 30 year old male who works as a television producer. I have hair to the middle of my back, but in an artistic field, such things are sort of expected.

I do keep my hair clean, brushed, well groomed, and present a sense of pride in my appearance. That is the most important thing no matter what your hair length.

If you don't want to cut it yet, I would wait until they asked you to cut it. Depending on the store they may like having an edgier looking sales associate.

Most important is that you look clean, confident, and well groomed.

Yes, part of being a professional is looking like a professional. And, think about the people doing the hiring. That want someone who will represent their business with a proper look. A job as a lawyer will require one look. A job as a trash man may require a different look. But don't underestimate the look. If you look sharp, the HR people will believe you to be sharp.

If your hair looks wild and not managed you might want to trim it up. If you can make it look nice for each interview. Clean and brushed you should be fine. Make sure it's not in your face and not covering your eyes.

Yes, the first impression is the last impression. u should look smart

If you are now thinking that you should do something about your hair you need to clean it up. This shows you understand that appearance is everything - at least until someone gets to know you. In a retail situation a customer will never get to know you, so you need to look professional. Don't do anything that isn't you, but do tidy up the "flailings." Better to do it now so your hair has a chance to get over the "just cut" look in time for the interviews.

It definitely helps to be neatly trimmed. A Mohawk or Ponytail is not a good idea, as well as tatoos and / or piercing anywhere noticible, especially nose rings.

If you can, check out what the other workers look like. If your hairstyle is in line with the rest of the crew, don't worry about it. Most important is to get there early, be alert, act professional, and ask lots of questions.

Does a haircut matter in a job interview?

ABSOLUTELY!! An interview is 80% about impression. Not only that, but 80% is won or lost on that initial impresion when you enter the room. How you look, how you greet them, the eye contact, the body language, ... The interview generates an impression and almost a decision in the first 30 to 120 seconds of the interview. If you were to walk in dressed and coiffed like a goth or punker and it's a retail sales job you're after, you're doomed! If you enter the room, dress and coiffed like a salesperson, your chances of getting the job increase dramatically!!

Get a haircut!!

It will depend on how desperately they need someone to work for them. A lot of companies decide to hire or not hire you before the interview. Some companies even have a interviews just to do some research for themselves.

I suggest you get a straight cut at or below ear level so the ends are not curling up all over the place. Would look much neater %26amp; more professional.
