I have straight natural auburn colored hair and eyes to match w/ the fair white skin and freckles...

I want something different goin' on on top of my dome. It's medium length right now and has a slight wave to it.

I'm not interested in dying the overall color since I get so many compliments on it, but I would like to toss in some highlights. What color would you suggest to really look striking?

For auburn hair, I would recommend some blond highlights. They look GREAT with that color, so try it out. It will totally look awesome!

If you want highlights, I think that caramel blonde would look best. Maybe try some gentle/soft layers. I think you'll look gorgeous with caramel blonde highlights. =)

i wouldn't recommend blond, not unless you want a dramatic difference. i also have naturally auburn hair (don't we get so many compliments! it's great!), hazel eyes, and freckles... but i also got to the point where i didn't want to fully color it but wanted something a little different. so, i decided to go w/ natural highlights instead to give it a little more character. i have a great salon pro who gave me light brown highlights and almost black lowlights. overall, it was still very auburn, but it was absolutely perfect and just what i wanted!
